blogwide guidelines

   BASICS.
❧ I'm a middle school teacher. During the school year (August to June) my activity can be really slow. I'm interested! I'm just exhausted.
❧ This is a private and highly selective multimuse, including fandoms from various fantasy / sci-fi tv shows, books, video games, and more.NO MINORS. Additionally please be 21 or older before you follow. I only write smut with those 25 or older.❧ My muses are mostly canon blended with my personal headcanons. Rarely, some diverge significantly. Those are marked with a ※.❧ You can find credits for all the resources I've used on this page on my blog.   INTERACTING.
❧ My blog is mutuals only. Non-mutuals may send in OOC or headcanon-based asks, but please do not send me IC things.
❧ You must specify a muse when requesting a starter, sending in a meme, or anything similar. If you don't, please understand that I won't respond to it.❧ Opportunities for interaction (memes, starter calls, plotting calls, ship calls, dynamics calls, etc) do not expire. You can interact with those posts or send in memes at any time.❧ About threads: (1) I like to skip introduction threads most of the time unless it just makes sense. (2) I'm not good at winging it; I really need plot attached to a thread to stay invested.

   SHIPPING.
❧ I am multi-ship, though I usually don't ship with more than 3 of a given muse. I try to have unique storylines for each interpretation of a muse I write with, excepting where canon would dictate an overlap.
❧ I don't autoship. All ships require good chemistry and need to be developed through writing, plotting, and OOC conversation. If we ship, please know I'll spam you with fanart, music, ideas, and more. <3❧ While some of my muses DO require a sexual component to their relationships, I'm fine with fading to black or writing it off of tumblr.PLEASE READ MY SHIP BIAS PAGE BEFORE ASKING ABOUT A SHIP. As long as a ship is not on my "nope" list, you can feel free to ask me about it.   FANDOM SPECIFIC.
DRAGON AGE. Unless plotted beforehand, all of my muses default to my worldstate with my Cousland, Hawke, and Lavellan as the respective heroes. Cousland and Hawke cannot be written in non-Warden/Hawke roles.
FIRE EMBLEM. I do not write CF or SB threads. I don’t care if you like Edelgard and it doesn’t bother me if we disagree about her. I am, however, totally fine interacting with her or other Eagles-exclusive characters in modern AU’s that are removed from canon or that address canon differently. Ferdinand defaults to Silver Snow, but can be written on VW or AM as well.GENSHIN IMPACT. No Kaeluc, PERIOD. It is not welcomed here.

ship bias

  • Even if a ship isn't listed next to a muse's name, as long as it's not under the "no" list, it's okay to ask me about it!

  • Ships marked with ♡ are my personal favorites, but every ship listed here is one I actively want to write.

  • All companion muses are open to ships with the player character pending chemistry and development. (Fergus is not shippable with a Cousland Warden for obvious reasons, and is not shippable with anyone under 30.)

  • For the most part, ships under my "nope" list are ships that just don't spark joy for me or don't scratch my brain the way that I like for ships to scratch my brain. However, I'm open to platonic or other interactions even if I don't ship the thing romantically.

dragon age world state

for the sake of consistency across my muses and to keep things easier for me to remember, i have one default world state and i don’t really deviate from this, like… ever. as such, some of my characters (most specifically, cousland and fhawke) cannot be written as companions and are not available in non-warden and non-hawke roles. this isn’t to be difficult, but because those portrayals have built up over the past 15 years and have been tweaked and adapted as the game series has continued, and it would take more effort than i want to expend in order to remold them differently.(finn) lavellan and (lorien) rook are more recent additions, because for most of dai’s existence i did not have a canon inquisitor, and lorien only came into existence recently through veilguard. as such, they are a little more flexible and don’t have as much history and growth to unpack, and they can be written in non-inquisitor and non-rook roles (though i obviously prefer those).i haven't included EVERY decision my protagonists made in their playthroughs, but i've included or summarized the ones that affect subsequent games the most visibly.

DRAGON AGE ORIGINS.hero of ferelden : clare lesley cousland, female human warrior/archer/artificer
she romanced : alistair (she declined the opportunity to become queen and although they tried to make it work, they eventually were forced by duty and circumstance to separate. she still loves him, but acknowledges later on that this ending might have been inevitable)
companions : all recruited, all personal quests completed
redcliffe : rescued redcliffe, conor lived unpossessed, isolde lived
broken circle : sided with the mages
urn of sacred ashes : did not defile the urn. did take an extra pinch without telling anyone.
nature of the beast : brokered peace.
paragon of her kind : bhelen rules orzammar, sent dagna to the circle
the landsmeet : alistair made king
the battle of denerim : clare made the final blow against the archdemon, and thanks to morrigan, she survived.
warden’s keep dlc : accepted the power of blood. allowed avernus to continue his research in a more ethical fashion. (later, during inquisition, she gives erimond to avernus as a “present” to experiment with as he pleases in order to “serve the needs of the grey wardens”)
awakening : architect killed, somehow saved (most of) amaranthine and the keep, nathaniel recruited and made her constable (second-in-command)
personal headcanons : some time between da2 and dai, clare does find a cure for the blight within wardens. she (along with nathaniel) cure themselves, but keep it a secret until they’re sure the effects can be mass-produced and replicated reliably. the results are mostly contained to ferelden as she knows this discovery will most likely be unpopular with the first warden or others in the order, but if your non-fereldan warden wants in, we can plot that out!

DRAGON AGE II.hawke : margaret “margo” victoria hawke, female human mage
she romanced : anders
companions : all recruited, all personal quests resolved.
siblings : bethany died escaping lothering, carver became a grey warden.
act 1 : opposed templars at nearly every turn. killed kelder, danzig, karras, and idunna. sent feynriel to the dalish.
act 2 : killed varnell, gascard, and the arishok. did not give isabela to the qunari. sent feynriel to tevinter.
act 3 : rescued nathaniel. let zevran go. reunited gamlen and charade. sided with the mages and fought for them alongside anders.
legacy dlc : sided with larius, found malcolm’s will.personal headcanons : margo asked anders to fight alongside her for the mages after the chantry explosion, knowing it would make them both criminals (if they weren't already). they fled together and eventually settled in rural ferelden, somewhere west of what used to be lothering. after ten years of chaos and struggle, both of them just wanted a quiet, peaceful life.margo did volunteer to stay back in the fade later during inquisition, but after defeating the nightmare demon, was found by the same spirit of resilience whom malcolm had drawn forward to reverse her tranquility. the spirit then guided her towards a weak spot in the veil where she was able to slip out and back into the real world. she landed somewhere in rivain, eventually meeting up with isabela. she stayed with isabela while she recovered, then made the long journey back to the south to reunite with anders.

DRAGON AGE INQUISITION.inquisitor : fionnbharr "finn" lavellan, male elven archer
he romanced : tbd
companions : recruited most companions, personal quests completed.
the wrath of heaven : declared the inquisition for order. vehemently denied being the “herald of andraste.”
mage-templar war : asked for support from the mages
wicked eyes and wicked hearts : briala rules through gaspard. celene assassinated, duchess florianne killed.
what pride had wrought : drank from the well, respected the rites.
here lies the abyss : grey wardens allied
doom upon all the world : leliana made divine
trespasser : disbanded the inquisition. vowed to stop solas.
personal headcanons : finn is a brand new inquisitor, so i’m still getting to know him! however, he’s very much not a leader - he’s an artisan/craftsman - and simultaneously feels like he has no choice but to trust these humans around him, and feels very reluctant to trust them. on an individual level he doesn’t hate humans, but as a group he is aware that they can be very dangerous. finn naturally favors solutions that are compassionate towards elves, children, and the disenfranchised. he has a difficult time getting along with sera and does not recruit vivienne. sometimes, he wants to learn from solas. sometimes, he gets on his nerves. there’s something about solas that makes him hesitate to fully give his trust. additionally, finn never wanted to go the conclave - something he expressed repeatedly. alas, no one listened. it's difficult for him to trust the humans that have suddenly surrounded him because of the heavy religious overtones.

DRAGON AGE VEILGUARD.rook : lorien ‘rook’ thorne, male elven mage
he romanced : bellara
companions : all recruited, all quests completed. he likes bellara, emmrich, and davrin best. all companions became heroes of the veilguard. emmrich did not become a lich.
when the blighted dragons attacked, he saved : treviso
the griffons : returned to the grey wardens
at weisshaupt, he : did not punch the first warden, but he thought about it.
at the final battle, he : thought about it and then punched solas in the teeth.
personal headcanons : lorien has a canon-divergent backstory, but this does not affect events in-game. he will just reference different people/events/places. he was born in the denerim alienage and later, after he was caught stealing, was dropped on the doorstep of vigil’s keep, where he trained until he turned 18 and was old enough to take the joining. afterwards, the warden-commander of ferelden, clare cousland, began training him as her protege, to one day take her place when she was gone. please visit his bio for full details.after the events of veilguard and things begin to settle, his commander, clare cousland, is asked to step into the role of first warden. clare subsequently asks lorien to take over for her as warden-commander in ferelden, admittedly much earlier than she planned for. lorien knew that was always the goal, but he felt nervous about it until she also asked nathaniel to temporarily take over as arl of amaranthine. with his warden family at his side, lorien felt ready to become ferelden's next commander of the grey. lorien is still learning how to fill the shoes left by clare, but he's ready.

character story

The only daughter born to the teryn and teryna of highever, Clare spent most of her childhood as a terror to her older brother Fergus, always chasing after him and his friends. Full of energy and life from the start, Clare was always feisty. She is nonetheless a fierce embodiment of the beliefs and traits that made the Couslands well-liked as the rulers of Highever - fairness, honesty, regard for life. Even if those sometimes skew towards bias, bluntness, and refusal to accept compromise. Her childhood was happy, secure ; she was allowed the freedom to do more or less as she chose. Aside from an illness that left her with scarred vocal cords and a scratchy voice, nothing ever really went wrong. As a teen, she fell in love with Rory -- Ser Gilmore -- and yet kept that affection quiet, because she knew it could never happen. Dairren and other suitors never stood a chance.Life at Castle Cousland was nothing short of luxurious and privileged. There were trips to Denerim and Redcliffe and West Hill and Dragon’s Peak, imported foods and wines and goods from Orlais and Antiva and Rivain, week-long visits from King Maric and other nobility. And some even saying Bryce should have become king, according to the Lorens. All in all, though, Clare didn’t really have a lot of direction growing up. It was always assumed her parents would one day find someone she liked enough to marry. It was also rumored that she was the favorite to inherit Highever despite being the younger sibling. So she would either go be lady of someone else’s castle ( not her first choice ), or she would become teyrna and someone would come be lord of hers ( a decent option ). She almost assumed that someone might even be Nate, once Fergus married Oriana, because she knew Rendon had wanted him to marry Delilah instead.None of that ended up happening, anyway. No one could have anticipated the night that changed her life forever. On the same day that the Grey Warden Duncan appeared at the castle, Rendon Howe of Amaranthine had come to ride out with the Couslands of Highever - and when Castle Cousland's forces were diminished after Fergus took most of their men into the Korcari Wilds, Arl Howe attacked.
Most of the castle residents and other guests were killed, including Clare's parents. Her parents' dying words were to join the Grey Wardens and do what's right. To make her mark upon the world.
There came the moment, then, when she realized her parents were going to die, and nothing she could do would ever change that.Duncan pulled her from the fray and to safety, bringing her to Ostagar.

Clare's journey as a Grey Warden began there. She grew rigid and unforgiving during the blight, holding herself in a vice grip to keep her team together. The girl died at Highever, but the woman survived. Always clever and good at reading people, these talents grew into something manipulative and lethal as she realized that if she didn't make hard choices about the future, no one else would. As Commander, Clare thrived. Life at Vigil's Keep got off to a rough start, but leadership had always fallen naturally on to her shoulders, and this was no different. She saved Anders from the circle, made peace with Nathaniel, reunited Oghren with his family, spent long nights talking to Justice about the real world and the fade, befriended Sigrun and Velanna.Clare continued to have influence within Fereldan politics despite her title, either directly through her own voice, or through that of her brother Fergus. She pushed for growth and reforms at ground zero: Rebuild roads and villages, get the farmers back to work and get everyone fed, bring Fereldans back from Kirkwall, give elves the same opportunities as humans and lay the foundation for structural changes that would hopefully, one day, see elves be treated as equal citizens. She devoted much of her time to building the strongest relationship the Wardens and Orzammar had seen in two hundred years; together, she and Bhelen worked to pull the casteless up into stability, to push back the darkspawn in the Deep Roads, to recover old thaigs, and much more. On the surface, she strengthened ties with Orlesian and Marcher Wardens, and collaborated with her brother and King Alistair to form a united vision for the future of Ferelden.Once Ferelden began to stabilize, she pivoted towards finding a cure for the Calling, enabling Avernus to do ethical research to support the Grey Wardens. This paid off eventually, and she was able to cure both herself and Nathaniel, though she knew there was much more work to be done before this could be made public. When a pair of elven gods escaped in Northern Thedas and Blight began spreading more rapidly and more intensely than ever before, the Grey Wardens of Ferelden stepped up to the challenge. Much was lost, but they were able to hold northern Fereldan long enough for Lorien, her protege, to defeat the gods. Exhausted at the idea of having to rebuild the country again, but still ready for the challenge, Clare was then met with a different problem: the First Warden was dead, and there were no Warden-Commanders left with equal or more experience than she had.Reluctant to leave her homeland, Clare nonetheless accepted the title of First Warden and relocated to the Anderfels, where she was tasked once again with rebuilding the Order, repairing a giant Keep, and finding ways to calm the chaos. But this time, with Lorien taking over as the new Warden-Commander in Ferelden and Nathaniel assuming his heritage title of Arl of Amaranthine, Clare felt like she could finally release the breath she'd been holding in for the past twenty years.

canon verses

  MAIN VERSE.
Compliant with DAO per her choices as detailed here. Can take place at any point during Origins.
  AWAKENING.
Clare conscripts Anders and recruits all possible companions. It's hard to look past Nathaniel's name to who he is as a person, and she is only able to do it because she knows he was not there the night that Rendon Howe murdered her family. Otherwise, follows the plot of awakening, with Clare continuing to try and do the most right by the most people possible. Her choices are detailed here. As Arlessa of Amaranthine, Clare enacts the same reforms she pushes for elsewhere in Ferelden.

   THE CALLING / POST-BLIGHT..
Clare's time after awakening when she is searching for a cure to the calling. Here, she can interact with characters from DA2. Towards the later end of this verse, Clare's work with Avernus, the Circle, and her own research begins to pay off.
Avernus finds a cure for the Calling, using a magically augmented version of the wilds flower she once found for the Houndmaster at Ostagar, some weird ancient magic Avernus uncovered, the pinch of ash she pocketed from the Urn of Sacred Ashes, and his other experiments. It's tough to reproduce the results, but it works on her and Nathaniel. Still, the real challenge will be to convince the other wardens to get on board.

  INQUISITION.
Clare continues her work in Ferelden and Amaranthine, rebuilding the nation after the blight and training a new generation of Grey Wardens. Around 9:42 Dragon, toward the end of the mage-templar war, a city guard drops an elven orphan on her doorstep and says the Wardens have got to be better than the noose, right? Clare takes the boy in, and, in 9:49 she allows him to take the Joining, after which she begins to train him as her protege and successor.
VEILGUARD. Clare fights the good fight in Ferelden, supporting Lorien Thorne from a distance and through many letters sent back and forth.

BECOMING THE FIRST WARDEN. Post-Veilguard. Clare and the Fereldan Grey Wardens never made it to Weisshaupt - they were too fucking busy in Ferelden. When the dust settles, Clare is the only Warden left of her rank and level of experience being a Commander. She doesn't want to leave Ferelden, but a Cousland always does her duty. She leaves Vigil's Keep and Amaranthine in the hands of Lorien and Nathaniel, respectively, and assumes the mantle of First Warden in the Anderfels, bringing on Antoine and Evka, among others, as her advisors. She strongly supports Antoine's research and appoints Evka as her new Constable. This is considered her canon ending.

alternate universes

INQUISITOR CLARE. Despite having already solved at least two world-threatening dilemmas by the time she reached 23, Clare was asked to attend the Conclave as someone known to be both sympathetic to the mages but informed about the consequences of reckless magic. To her great joy (/sarcasm) she was at the epicenter of the explosion, and found herself adding on another title soon after: the Herald of Andraste / the Inquisitor. She'd only wanted information about the conclave, but fate had other plans. Still, a Cousland always does her duty, and while Clare denied any divine intervention, she took up the mantle and got to work. She vowed to stop Solas at all costs, disbanding the Inquisition.

   CYBERPUNK 2077.
Former military, trained as an elite sniper. Clare is the orphaned daughter of Bryce and Eleanor Cousland, politicians who were offed a few years ago under mysterious circumstances. Her gut says it was that scumbag Rendon Howe, but she's got little proof. Currently works in military intelligence and spycraft, but sometimes takes merc jobs from Dino. She contacts V when her usual methods of obtaining intelligence fail and she needs someone a bit less obvious than herself.
  GENSHIN IMPACT.
to be updated. Clare is a Lightkeeper.

•   1   :     I do her playthroughs using the mod that restores anders' dialogue about karl when talking with femhawke, so that conversation is considered canon to my portrayal. she knows about karl's history with anders and it doesn't change her feelings towards him.
•   2   :     margo also suffers from panic attacks when templars and tranquility are active threats; anders' quests are particularly awful for her, though she doesn't hold him responsible for anything that happens. she cannot easily go into the gallows without flareups and will often send carver or varric in her place, if at all possible. when varric relays the champion's story to cassandra, he leaves this out, letting it be believed that margo was the one to go.

character story

Margo is... Something different. The mercurial and outspoken eldest daughter of the Hawke family, she is in many ways like her father: an apostate, forward-thinking, loyal to her family. She is also damaged, blunt, and determined to remind the universe that she exists. Margo has the best interests of her loved ones at heart, but her friendship and love demands a lot of patience sometimes. She is often deeply mistrusting of the world around her, but for very good reason.Margo carries a terrible secret that she's kept for the past 15 years of her life. When she was 11, she accompanied her father out for a mission after swearing to the Maker and Andraste herself that she was old enough and ready to be treated like an adult. What no one expected were templars to be out looking for apostates. Things quickly went south and Margo was taken and brought to Kinloch Hold. The situation escalated enough that the two templars who brought her in panicked and forced tranquility upon her without authorization. To no mage's surprise, they faced little, if any, consequence.A year passed before Malcolm was able to sneak her out of the tower and reverse her tranquility using blood magic. But when she returned home, it became clear that she was not the same as when she'd left. For years, she refused to leave her room, the house, without Carver and her mabari ; she was past twenty the first time she agreed to go with Bethany into Lothering to sell potatoes.Six months before the battle of Ostagar, Margo began a careful relationship with a sweet, shy boy in the village named Jed. He was her first everything. Jed was called away to fight, along with Carver, but only one of them returned from the slaughter. Margo began to wonder if she was cursed. The way she puts it, one day she woke up and decided she no longer wanted to be afraid -- that she wouldn't let the Circle and the templars hold this fear and power over her. If she made herself the most dangerous person in the room, no one would ever be able to hurt her again.

She's had a long time to re-learn emotions and how to cope with them, as well as figure out her own identity, but this was a deeply traumatizing event for her, and she deals with the aftermath of it to this day. Indeed, nearly all of her abrasive and brash personality now is the result of this single event. If she was ever a soft and sweet girl like Bethany, Margo feels too damaged and hurt to ever be that way again.Anyone who was at Kinloch Hold in 9:14 might well remember the rumor about the little girl brought in screaming, and the moment when the screaming stopped -- the rumor about the youngest person to have ever been made tranquil, and the day she disappeared. Dead -- killed? Murdered? No answer was ever given; in fact, it's more likely that Margo's entire existence was covered up.She tends towards confident and direct, with an obvious confidence and self-assuredness. With very little respect for "the way it's always been," Margo has a hard time keeping her opinions to herself. That said, she can also be prone to moments of spontaneous and perhaps illogical mercy, even when it might go against her actions in the past or her beliefs in general. No one will fight harder for you than Margo Hawke. With her emotions still amplified by "waking up" from tranquility, she loves just as fiercely as she hates.Leading her family in the escape from the Blight, which was overtaking Lothering, Margo joined up with Aveline and Ser Wesley, two others who were fleeing the chaos. Her younger sister Bethany fell in battle against an ogre, leaving a void in the family that would never be fliled again. She holds a visceral hatred against templars and the chantry, to the extent that she would have very willingly assisted in Anders' plot if he'd only told her about it. Margo wants the world to know how awful the chantry truly is, and her compromised ability to control herself coupled with her just-beneath-the-surface anger at the injustice forced on her, gives her a very low tolerance for the chantry, templars, or anyone who supports them.

canon verses

  MAIN VERSE.
compliant with the plot of DA2, per her choices as detailed in the dragon age world state tab. margo is vehemently anti-templar, very pro-freedom, and very unbridled. her friendship demands much from those around her, but there is no one better to have in your corner than margo hawke. determined to overcome her past but struggling with ptsd and anxiety, she refuses to give up the fight. she supports anders in act 3.

  POST-CANON.
margo (and anders) are on the run after the events of act 3. this verse also encompasses her time when she's called to help the inquisition deal with corypheus. if left in the fade, margo will find her own way out and show up back at skyhold about four months later, with a rivaini tattoo on her arm, a nice tan, and greetings from isabela. after letting everyone know she's not dead yet, she returns home to anders.

alternate universes

  INQUISITION.
featuring margo as the inquisitor, this verse is canon-compliant per her choices detailed here. margo's past continues to chase her as she fights for the freedom of mages over thedas, this time, with mostly new companions. her grey warden contact is her brother's commander, stroud, and he is left in the fade as margo must return to the real world and continue the fight against corypheus. all the while, she tries to keep one step ahead of the templars still hunting anders, and is not at all above using her newfound power and influence to mislead them at every opportunity. at the end of tresspasser, she fails to kill solas on sight, but returns to the war table eager to take him down at any cost. the inquisition is formally disbanded and the search for a new leader begins -- and this time, please keep her out of it.

   MODERN THEDAS.
set in a modern thedas with all the same technology as the real world but all the magic of canon as well. at the age of eleven, margo was kidnapped by a fundamentalist andrastian anti-mage cult who clung to "the old ways" when it came to mage freedoms. she was made tranquil following her canon; it was later reversed following a highly publicized news story involving both local and national law enforcement - largely because her mother, leandra, was heir to the massive amell fortune. margo disappeared from the public view for years afterwards, not resurfacing until her mid-20's. unfortunately, some people still remember what happened.

finn lavellan

GENERAL .
•   name   :   fionnbharr "finn" lavellan
•   date of birth   :   14 bloomingtide, 9:13 dragon
•   alias / titles   :   the inquisitor. don't call him the herald. especially don't call him the herald of andraste.
•   sex / gender   :   cis male
•   pronouns   :   he / him
•   orientation   :   tbd
•   species   :   elf (dalish)
•   occupation   :   toymaker, artisan, craftsman, inquisitor
•   face claim(s)   :  in-game design
•   voice claim(s)   :   gavin drea
PHYSICAL .
•   eyes   :   light brown
•   hair   :    red, worn a bit long
•   height   :   5'9
•   weight   :   130lbs
•   build   :   typical thin elven build
•   skin   :   fair and freckled
•   clothing   :  comfortable, allowing for flexibility, in natural colors found in the forests. often adorned with various trinkets.
MENTAL .
•   alignment   :     chaotic good
•   traits   :   artistic, amicable, initially not knowledgeable about the world beyond his clan, but he's a quick learner. finn is particularly skilled at seeing things from different angles.
•   likes   :  carpentry, woodworking, toymaking, storytelling. he likes to make figurines of important people in elven history and give them to children.
•   dislikes   :   hot weather, biting insects, tea that's just past the point of being hot and is now almost lukewarm, when he accidentally drinks the paint water and not the water water.
•   hobbies   :   outside of woodworking, toymaking, and carpentry, he likes collecting books from faraway places, though this happens very rarely when his clan happens to come within a day or so's walk of a human city.
OOC .
•   playlist   :   tbd
•   pinterest   :   tbd

OTHER .
•   ship bias   :   tbd
•   accent   :  fairly plain, but with a melodic lilt to it. we would call it american with a bit of irish.
•  economic class   :  he disagrees with coin-based economies as a concept. (he doesn't have any money, but doesn't consider himself poor.)
•  battle class    :   he's formally trained as a hunter, but he was only average at it at best. finn is better as ranged support.
•  languages   :   common/trade, some elven
IMPORTANT .
•   1   :     finn is a brand new character, so i'm still figuring out who exactly he is as i do his playthrough. in general, i get the feeling he's really just A Dude who wound up way more important than he ever planned.
•   2   :     do not call him the herald of andraste. finn is a believer in the dalish gods and has been raised completely in-culture - his gods and his identity as a dalish elf are very important to him. he begrudgingly understands the political need for the title, but he won't ever use it or agree with it, and will turn cold on someone who calls him their friend in one breath but calls him the 'herald of andraste' in the next one.
•  3   :     he doesn't hate humans as individuals, though he's cautious at first. humans in groups, though? they can be dangerous, and he will try to avoid those encounters as much as possible, for everyone's sake.

BACKGROUND.
•   birthplace   :  the free marches, with clan lavellan
•   current residence   :   skyhold. too much stone, not enough green. he doesn't like it.
•   nuclear family   :   odhran (father), naevys (mother), traeliorn (eldest brother) †, talaesin (older brother), róisín (twin sister)
•   extended family   :   various cousins, aunts, and uncles within his clan. his cousin darragh is most like a brother to him.
•   in-laws   :   tbd
•   pets   :   none, though he liked to spent time with the halla and as a child could often be found sleeping against one of them when he was supposed to be doing chores

canon verses

PRE-CANON VERSE.
for any interactions that happen while finn is still with his clan in the free marches. while he was supposed to join his brothers and others of his age as hunters for the clan, finn's heart was never in it and he always felt guilty taking the life of a living being, even though he knew that every part of it would be used. eventually, the keeper stopped sending him on hunts. finn started to take up woodworking and craftsmanship instead, finding great joy in carving toys and figurines for the children of his clan.

  THE INQUISITOR.
canon / inquisition verse, compliant with finn's choices as detailed in my dragon age world state. finn is compassionate towards elves, children, and the disenfranchised, and also favors commentary or decisions by others that respect the natural world and don't cause undue harm to innocents. he doesn't think he's a great leader and never really sees himself as such, even if others do. generally, he is warm and easy to befriend, though he will turn cold towards those who are disrespectful of his heritage or who insist on calling him the "herald of andraste."

  POST-CANON / VEILGUARD.
although finn settled into a quiet life with his beloved, dividing his time between their home and his clan, the return of the evanuris and the blight demands his attention. as a former friend of solas, finn feels obligated to offer his support to rook and to help stop the blight from crushing the south. unless otherwise specified, he joins forces with clare and the grey wardens of amaranthine until he eventually leaves to support lorien in the north during the final battle. in this verse, finn struggles deeply with his religious beliefs.

alternate universes

  COMPANION VERSE.
recruit finn for your cause! finn is recruitable most easily by elven inquisitors, though he is best suited to supportive roles on the sidelines. please don't send him into combat; he probably won't die, but he doesn't enjoy it either. other inquisitors can recruit him too, but it's a little harder as he is less likely to trust them right away.

  VERSE TBD.

lorien thorne

•   name   :  lorien (thorne)
•   date of birth   :   17 harvestmere, 9:31 dragon
•   alias / titles   :  rook
•   sex / gender   :   cis male
•   pronouns   :   he / him
•   orientation   :   tbd

•   voice claim(s)   :   jeff berg
PHYSICAL .
•   eyes   :   brown
•   hair   :    brown
•   height   :   5'9
•   weight   :   140lbs
•   build   :   taller and more filled out than is common for elves
•   skin   :   on the fairer side, but slightly brown
•   clothing   :  he's most comfortable in grey warden fatigues, or just regular linen pants and shirts
MENTAL .
•   alignment   :     chaotic good
•   traits   :   honest, good-intentioned, brave, at times reckless and impulsive, will fight god in a denny's parking lot... or tevinter, whatever.
•   likes   :  stories, lamb soup, the sea, the sights and sounds of cities, horses and other animals, challenging himself physically, the scent of the earth after it rains, warm blankets.
•   dislikes   :   when things repeatedly don't go his way despite his best efforts, training in the mud, going home to the denerim alienage, alienages in general, getting rained on, when people see his ears and decide that's more important than the fact that he's a grey warden.
•   hobbies   :   journaling, cooking, training with the other wardens, venting to the commander, learning about different peoples and cultures.

OTHER .
•   ship bias   :   bellara, tbd
•   accent   :  standard fereldan elven (american voice)
•  economic class   :  he, himself, has no financial status of any kind, but as a warden he's...fine? he can afford what he needs.
•  battle class    :   despite being a mage, lorien is a frontline combatant who prefers spellblades and mageknives to staves. his magic is mostly based around fire and lightning, with fire being most preferred.
•  languages   :   common/trade, a few elven phrases
IMPORTANT .
•   1   :     lorien has a completely canon-divergent background, because i like my protags to all know each other. this doesn't affect anything in canon except a few references to his past.
•   2   :     he has mostly been trained as a warden by my cousland, who has chosen him as her successor. as it is, he has grown up with the fereldan wardens since the age of 11, and has been largely influenced by clare.
•  3   :     his relationship with humans outside of the grey wardens is... fine? odd? a little weird? being a warden has shielded him from the worst that interactions with humans can offer, but it's always in the back of his mind as something that COULD happen out of nowhere.

canon verses

PRE-CANON VERSE.
for any interactions that happen before nathaniel introduces clare and lorien to varric in 9:52. lorien survives his joining at 18 (9:49) and trains under warden-commander clare cousland to eventually become her successor. threads during this time can happen either in/around amaranthine or anywhere in ferelden.

  THE VEILGUARD.
this verse starts when the game starts. lorien's time building and becoming leader of the veilguard as he fights back against the gods of his people. as a city elf who grew up mostly around humans from age 11, he feels both curious about and disconnected from elven culture, and he struggles to reconcile his what he's grown up thinking and what's happening before him.

  POST-CANON.
once the fight against the gods is over and clare is asked to take up the mantle of first warden in the anderfels, lorien is tasked with becoming the new commander of the grey in ferelden. in a world where all the old gods are dead, it's up to him and the first warden to decide the future of the order. but first, the south needs to be stabilized and rebuilt after the sixth blight.
